Germaine Langan is a Cree First Nation woman from the Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation located on Treaty 4 Territory in Southern Saskatchewan. She has resided in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver since 1984. She started Cree-Native Productions in 1996 and focused on introducing and promoting traditional and contemporary Indigenous artists, dancers, and musicians to a mainstream audience.
Germaine created the Aboriginal Art and Culture Celebration Society which celebrated National Aboriginal Day on the front lawn of the Vancouver Art Galley for eleven years. For the last fifteen years, Germaine has created the Indigenous Village for all the major festivals that happen each year in the City of Surrey, where she has lived for thirty years.
Germaine received an “Honorary Member Recognition” with the Indigenous Bar Association and a “Lifetime Contribution to Aboriginal Music” from the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards in 2006. She has been a juror for the Juno and Western Canadian Music Awards.
